As this event is on the events calendar and we are intending to take part, I thought that I should start a new thread to see who else is thinking of coming along.
In case it's of any relevance we are intending to sleep on Blue Ray overnight as the Premier marina facilities in Brighton are excellent!

Hi All
I know many of you have just got back from the Jersey cruise, but is anyone else looking to cruise to Brighton this weekend?
The weather is currently forecast to improve for the weekend. With high tide being mid afternoon we are currently intending to leave Southampton area just after mid-day and round Selsey Bill at about 3pm to get slack tide. We should arrive at Brighton Marina at about 16.00.
We are sleeping on the boat overnight, intending to have Dim Sum on Sunday morning and cruise back (probably via Littlehampton) leaving Brighton early Sunday afternoon and getting back to the Solent mid afternoon.
Anyone else intending to join us?

Hi Trevor,

Unfortunately I have lost my crew this weekend after the Jersey trip, they are all out of money and detoxing.

Were down next weekend though and thought perhaps a run to Chichester for lunch.

Cheers

Well - as no-one else came along we did the run to Brighton on our own anyway.
The run to Brighton past Selsey Bill was a bit challenging - rather than the 3kts wind forecast, the week before's storms and high winds took a bit longer to subside, so we had a Force 5 westerly tail wind and a following tide. The result of which made it almost impossible not to stuff the boat at some point as we came over each of the crests of the swell. I did indeed manage to nose dive into the trough and fill the boat with water to about 1/2 cm below the cill of the cabin door. Whilst on the Dartmouth Trip we managed to just lose the cushion from the console seat - this time the whole seat came detached, as did the entire bench seat at the back of the boat and our cool bag was floating in the boat as we were knee deep in water. If only I'd had my (waterproof) camera available!
Everything kept working thought, and eventually the boat emptied and we finally got to Brighton although the boat looked like someone had had a temper-tantrum in it!
By Sunday the the wind had dropped to a F4 and we timed our return run so we had wind against tide so it was more like the normal Solent short-chop.
All in all it was still an enjoyable weekend away - maybe next year we'll do it in company!

Hi Trevor,

Sounds like a bit of a journey for you,I take it the seats just came off but easy to re attach. Sorry we couldnt make it but after Jersey my crew were wounded in the wallet department. Should be back in business this weekend.

Cheers for now

The seats were not designed to be detachable - but yes - they did go back in without too much problem.
We should be off to Alderney and Sark from Friday to Tuesday - as long as the weather is a bit better than last weekend!

Hi Trevor, Jon and everyone else.
As there are limited enquiries for the Alderney trip next weekend, Jon has suggested it is replaced by the postponed Brighton run; I think Jon & Julian (?) are intending to stop over on Saturday and run back on Sunday, they'll probably post over the next few days.

Hi All

Sorry to mess you all about, I am unable to make next weekends "Brighton Bash" and Julian has another commitment as well.
I will be about on Saturday but I have to be back for Saturday evening, so if anybody fancies a day trip out, give me a call.

cheers
Jon
