Awards Dinner 2015

BIBOA

Annual Dinner and Presentation of Awards

HMS Warrior 1860 - 21st November 2015

Book online here: http://membership.biboa.com/event-2028344

This year, to celebrate our 25th Anniversary, our Awards Dinner will be held on-board HMS Warrior in the Historic Dockyard of Portsmouth.  A champagne reception will greet guests at 1830 hrs on the Officer’s Half Deck, and at 2000 hrs a wonderful four-course dinner will be served on the Gun Deck followed by our Presentation of Awards.  Dress Code:  Black Tie.

We will have access to the entire ship for the evening and guests can roam around as they wish, (with the exception of roped-off areas);  attendants will be on duty throughout the evening to answer any questions.  The ceilings are low and the decks are planked timber, so ladies shoes should have heels no less than the recommended 1.5 cms square.  “Heel Stopper” can be purchased from www.cleanheels.co.uk to be worn over a narrower heel if required.

Accommodation has been negotiated at The Holiday Inn Express in Gunwharf Quays at a special price of £99.95 per double bedroom and includes breakfast.  When telephoning to make a reservation, 02392 894 240, please quote BIBOA DINNER on the 21st November, to get this special rate. A credit card number is all that is needed to reserve a room.   Please note that the AGM will be held at 10 a.m. in the board-room on the ground floor of this hotel on the Sunday morning following the dinner.

HMS Warrior 1860 lies within Portsmouth Naval Base and comes under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defence Security.  All guests will arrive on foot, through Victory Gate, parking their cars in local car parks or arriving by taxi.  It is only a very short walk on to the ship from Victory Gate.  When we know the numbers staying at the Holiday Inn Express, it may be possible to hire a small coach or minibus to go to-and-fro.  I have already spoken to a taxi company very nearby who will charge only a small amount to drive cars from the hotel to the gate.  It is possibly a little too far for ladies to walk in evening attire.

Gunwharf Quays offers amazing shopping opportunities. With your hotel booking you will receive 24 hours free parking from the time you arrive, and the benefit of the next 24 hours at a cost of only £2.

The Committee is working hard to produce a really great night and we’d really love you to join us;  the Awards Dinner is a fantastic opportunity to spend some time aboard this wonderful ship, to get together with old, current and new members and mull over the year’s cruises and adventures, and to congratulate those who have won our prestigious trophies!

NOTE: please book early; http://membership.biboa.com/event-2028344. Because of security in the Naval Base, it will not be possible for me to add people’s names to the guest list at a late stage.  The Base requires a list of names from me, two weeks before the event.

Please contact me, Mary, on mary.puddifoot@mail.com or 07831 468060 for any further queries or information.

Dress Code will be Black Tie.
