What is BIBOA?

BIBOA Ltd is the UK RIB club for those who like to cruise and socialise in Rigid Inflatable Boats. Read more.

To take part in any BIBOA sea-going event the skipper of the boat must be a paid up BIBOA member and there must be valid 3rd party insurance for the vessel. Non BIBOA Members are very welcome indeed as crew accompanying a BIBOA skipper.

Safety boats needed for Scillys event

Message from Glenn at Ocean Sport UK:

We will be holding our event paddling from Scillys to Sennen on July 4th this year for individual and paired paddlers. We will also be holding a second race in September (date to be confirmed - same route) for Hawaiian canoes and stand up paddle boarders.
The number of entrants is restricted by the number of safety boats we can muster (one per craft). We would be looking for any boat which is 5m plus in length, has VHF comms and RYA powerboat cert level 2 - ideally crews with previous safety cover experience would be fantastic. I appreciate that these might restrict those who could help, please call or email me and thoughts on this.
At present we can guarantee fuel costs of steaming over to the Scillys and return fuel covering the event. We will also pay for one nights accommodation on the Scillys for two safety boat crew members - obviously we would also provide a goodie bag of event t-shirts and sponsor products (this will be confirmed closer to the time).
What I really need is volenteers numbers as soon as possible - I need this as we need to release how many people will be able to enter the race.
I hope this makes sense, if not or more info is needed please give me a call on 07533695031.
Please see our website with a video of last years crossing and info for this years event here http://www.thecelticcrossing.com.
I hope all is well and I look forward to talking with you soon.
Kind regards,

Better than a fairy...

BIBOA member Keith Singleton seems to have had a wild Xmas in Derbyshire Peak District, the BIBOA Under 6m trophy awarded to Keith and his daughter Kate with their RIB 'Murphy' took pride of place on top of the tree, better than a fairy!

Last weekend in Anglesey

Last weekend after a 5 hour tow I did a bit of explooring around Anglesey. A beautiful day with fantastic scenery. Thanks to Dean Watson for showing me round and through the Swellies (friend of BOBOA member Andy Micklewright, thanks Andy, Dean was invaluable, the local knowledge was invaluable as the Swellies are interesting at low tide...)

Saturday afternoon.

Two Nations Cruise

Whilst some BIBOA members were  heading off around Ireland, the boys on Seahound, Mystic Dragon and Bourne Runner headed South for warmth in the Isles of Scilly and La Belle France. Here they are taking a lunch stop in Mont St Michel; are those pints of Calvados !?   The (edited) highlights will be posted here when they return, they were due back in early August but apparently that's now looking a bit optimistic...
